01

The princess and the tower

0 / 3 steps

Recover the Forest Rail Map.

Route and puzzle solutions

  1. Complete the engineer journey and help Zelda leave the castle without being seen. Guide her between safe positions while Link distracts guards.

  2. In the Tower of Spirits, collect three Tears of Light to empower the sword. Strike a Phantom from behind so Zelda can possess it.

  3. Use Zelda's armour to cross hazards or distract other Phantoms while Link handles switches. Collect the Forest Rail Map before leaving.

Checkpoints

A useful detail

Send Zelda across hazards first; Link can ride her shield through some dangers.

02

Restore the Forest Realm

0 / 3 steps

Complete the first Lokomo duet.

Route and puzzle solutions

  1. Follow the trees' directions through the Lost Woods, including the final exception given by the clue. Reach Gage and practise the flute sequence before the duet.

  2. Inside the Forest Temple, use the Whirlwind to move keys, clear poisonous mist and send stunned explosive enemies toward obstacles.

  3. Blow away the cloud protecting Stagnox's rear and strike it. During the flying phase, blow an explosive enemy into the boss to bring it down.

Checkpoints

A useful detail

Aim before blowing into the microphone.

03

Snowbound tracks

0 / 3 steps

Restore the second region.

Route and puzzle solutions

  1. Complete the next tower section and obtain the Snow Rail Map. Use the Anouki and Ferrus clues to find a route through the blizzard.

  2. After Steem's duet, enter the Snow Temple and collect the Boomerang. Draw a path through fire or ice before the intended target to carry that element.

  3. Hit Fraaz with the opposite element. When the original torches are destroyed, use the fire and ice left by his attacks as your new elemental sources.

Checkpoints

A useful detail

Draw a Boomerang path through fire or ice before its destination.

04

A railway beneath the sea

0 / 3 steps

Open the Ocean Temple.

Route and puzzle solutions

  1. Recover the Ocean Rail Map, arrange the broken bridge's repair and bring Carben back from Papuchia. His duet restores the tracks toward the underwater route.

  2. In the Ocean Temple, obtain the Whip and use it on poles, handles and switches. Read the sword-handle clues before pulling a random sequence.

  3. Pull a thorn from Phytops's tendril and throw it at the protected eye. Clear the covering, stun the eye and attack with the sword.

Checkpoints

A useful detail

Protect the train from sea attacks instead of holding maximum speed blindly.

05

Gorons and the Fire Temple

0 / 3 steps

Restore the final realm's tracks.

Route and puzzle solutions

  1. Deliver Mega Ice from the snow region to unblock the Goron settlement. Plan the train route to reduce melting and avoid unnecessary damage.

  2. Complete Embrose's duet and collect the temple-entry keys. Inside the Fire Temple, use the Bow and minecarts to activate distant targets.

  3. Shoot Cragma's glowing body points to change the arena's routes. Ride the minecart upward and shoot the eye, then strike when the boss collapses.

Checkpoints

A useful detail

Protect the ice shipment; enough must survive the journey.

06

The tower summit

0 / 3 steps

Reach Zelda's stolen body.

Route and puzzle solutions

  1. Return to the Tower of Spirits and use the different Phantom forms for their specific obstacles. A protected or heavy route may require Zelda to lead.

  2. During Byrne's battle, place Zelda where she can catch his extended claw. Move Link into position to attack while she holds him.

  3. After the tower sequence, follow Anjean's new lead. The apparent restoration of the tower does not end the story.

Checkpoints

A useful detail

Keep Zelda available to intercept Byrne's attacks.

07

The Bow of Light

0 / 3 steps

Prepare for the Dark Realm.

Route and puzzle solutions

  1. Reach Rael, complete the duet and pass the railway trials. Enter the Sand Temple and retrieve the Sand Wand.

  2. Raise sand beneath Link and heavy objects to reach ledges or move barriers. Temporary sand platforms collapse, so prepare the next move before creating them.

  3. Catch Skeldritch's rolling boulders with raised sand and launch them into its armour. Reach the exposed weak point and collect the Bow of Light after the battle.

Checkpoints

A useful detail

Sand columns collapse; prepare a whole crossing before climbing.

08

One last ascent

0 / 3 steps

Find the Compass of Light.

Route and puzzle solutions

  1. Return to the Tower of Spirits with the Bow of Light. Charge shots when operating the light-sensitive targets.

  2. Use Torch Phantoms to illuminate dark routes, Warp Phantoms to reach the appropriate targets and Wrecker Phantoms to break heavy obstacles.

  3. Coordinate Zelda's position with Link's switches across the final rooms. Take the Compass of Light and follow the newly revealed tracks toward the Dark Realm.

Checkpoints

A useful detail

Mark which Phantom type each unfinished obstacle needs.

09

The Dark Realm

0 / 3 steps

Defeat Malladus.

Route and puzzle solutions

  1. Collect Tears of Light to make the train temporarily invincible and ram the armoured trains. Destroy the Demon Train's weapons while switching tracks to avoid attacks.

  2. Guide Zelda past Cole so she can restrain Malladus, then shoot the Bow of Light. Protect her during the next phase and complete the flute duet.

  3. Turn Malladus so Zelda can shoot his back. Strike the forehead jewel when he falls and complete the final combined attack.

Stamps and the complete railway

  1. Take Niko's Stamp Book and stamp each station when you reach it. Return to him at the reward milestones rather than waiting until the final station.

  2. Revisit settlements for passenger and freight requests. Deliver their cargo safely to obtain Force Gems that restore optional track sections.

  3. Use the completed rail map to check isolated branches, rabbits and side destinations. The main story's restored tracks do not include every optional railway.

One checklist edition is documented here. Ports with the same collection targets share this column; this does not claim that every release is identical.

These are checklist targets, not an overall completion percentage. “Not included” means the goal is absent from that checklist. Hardware-dependent extras and additional runs are listed below.
